  • Camino provides practical 1:1 support for young people with neurodiversity, intellectual disability, or developmental support needs.

  • We encourage and expect family involvement. Families and primary carers are central to our approach. We collaborate very closely with them, keeping communication open and ensuring they feel supported and well informed.

  • We support children and young people, typically from early childhood (6 years old) through adolescence (18 years+). Our approach is flexible to meet the individual needs of each young person.

  • We are intentionally close-knit and relationship-focused. This allows us to prioritise strong, trustworthy connections with both young people and their families, providing consistent, personalised support.

  • Every session is tailored to the individual, and may include life-skills development, creative activities, social interaction, practical support, or shared quiet time. Sessions are guided by the young person’s needs, interests, and family goals.

  •  Building trust takes time. Our small, consistent team focuses on patience and relationship-building, allowing young people to engage at their own pace.

  • Our support is charged at a simple hourly rate of $45.00 per hour. This keeps things transparent and flexible for families.

  • We provide consistent day-to-day support that helps young people develop confidence, independence, and meaningful life skills. Support is always tailored to each individual’s strengths, interests, and needs.

  • All our team members are police-vetted and thoughtfully chosen to suit the needs of the young people we support. Their safety, dignity, and wellbeing are central to everything we do.

  • Many young people communicate without spoken words, through actions, expressions, or other cues. We take time to understand their way of communicating, building trust so connection can grow naturally.

  • Yes! We love incorporating arts, creativity, and play into our sessions, as these can be powerful ways for young people to express themselves and build confidence.

  • Possibly, depending on the young person’s needs. Any mobility, personal care, medical, or safety needs would need to be discussed first to make sure we can support them safely and appropriately.

  • At this stage, Camino only provides 1:1 support. We are currently aiming to offer small, regularly groups or holiday options in the future, but these are not currently a regular part of our service.

  • Camino is usually a good fit when a young person would benefit from consistent 1:1 support to access the community, build confidence, practice skills, and engage in meaningful activities. Unfortunately we may not fit every family and child’s need, therefore we always talk with families first to understand what support is needed and whether Camino can provide it safely and well and encourage trial sessions.
